Day Two 1-20-05: Email (jmwarner@uiuc.edu)your
items and skills to add to the class economy by noon (1-20). Watch Agnes
Vardes documentatry film "The
Gleaners and I". French filmaker, Agnes Varda explores the
act of gleaning (to gather after the harvest). She expands
the definition, as will we, for the purpose of examining all kind of
ways of reuseing 'valuable' material. This concept will drive our autonomous
class economy. OVER THE WEEKEND: Browse artist list
and choose two artists that interest you (or more). Send me your artists
by Tuesday so I can start to create a schedule. You can also get a jumpstart
by diving into the reading (linked below) by Susan Sontag, though we
will not discuss it till later next week.
