ABOUT

J. Meredith Warner is a recent graduate of the Master’s of Art Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and was recently the recipient of the Ormeau Baths Gallery Perspective 2005 Prize for her video “Knitting (found)”. She recently left Champaign for her hometown of Philadelphia.

While in Urbana-Champaign Meredith was a Graduate Instructor teaching classes in Painting, Video, Landscape Architecture and Site-specificity. She also was a co-director of a local alternative arts space and collective called OPENSOURCE Art and a member of the Board of Director’s for the Champaign County Historical Museum.

Meredith’s artwork focuses on knitting as a physical craft and a conceptual act of binding people and place. Her work exists at the intersection of craft, site-specificity, new media, labor and feminism.
